Montreal, February 5, 2020 - Sandro Forte, artist, musician, director, programmer, film critic, vice-president of l’Association québécoise des critiques de cinéma (AQCC), radio columnist and founder of the Cinetalk.net site, died of natural causes on January 18 of this year, at the age of 49. In order to assure that he is remembered in the industry, the Fantasia Festival organizers have chosen to create the Sandro Forte Award for Best Motion Picture Score, which will henceforth be given to the best soundtrack among the international feature films in the Cheval Noir section, our flagship international competition. Forte’s next of kin fully endorse the establishment of this award, which combines Sandro’s two great passions, cinema and music.
The festival has previously presented several of Sandro Forte’s works as part of its programming, including the short film IMPÉRIAL, which opened the festival in 2003.
Fantasia will return from July 16 to August 5, 2020, celebrating its 24th edition.
