Join us after the screening on August 8 at 8:35pm EDT for a live Q&A with Director/Writer Richard Bates Jr and Actress Angela Sarafyan.

What makes a good witch nowadays? A deep sense of spirituality and communion with nature? Devotion to a tight-knit group of like-minded free spirits? A successful Etsy shop and a sick set of Tarot cards? Living the dream alongside his beautiful life partner Willow (WESTWORLD’s Angela Sarafyan), the revered high priest of a modern Californian coven, Thorn (CRIMINAL MINDS’ Matthew Gray Gubler) has it all… as well as a secret past that may or may not be as dark as his wardrobe. And much like the tides pursuing the moon, our past tends to follow us around. So, when his beloved uncovers said secret on the night of their Beltane celebrations, Thorn sets out on a soul-searching journey back to his hometown.

From the twisted mind of Richard Bates Jr. – whose previous films EXCISION, SUBURBAN GOTHIC, TRASH FIRE and TONE-DEAF all made a lasting impression on Fantasia audiences for their off-the-wall humour and nonconforming takes on human nature – KING KNIGHT is as delightfully unpredictable as you would expect. Also starring Barbara Crampton, Ray Wise, Nelson Franklin, Johnny Pemberton, Andy Milonakis, Kate Comer, Emily Chang, Josh Fadem, Swati Kapila, Shane Brady and the voices of Aubrey Plaza and AnnaLynne McCord, this independently financed “Pagan comedy” marks Bates and Gubler’s fourth time joining forces, and showcases the latter’s effortless charm and wacky energy in a familiar, yet exhilarating way. Get your sage and crystals ready and join them in this hilarious pilgrimage that will not only teach you the ways of the occult, but also (and most importantly) the true power of kinship. Just remember to stay away from the ayahuasca. – Alyssia Duval-Nguon
